Significance
The Sri Balathandayuthapani Temple atop Waterfall Hill in Penang is one of the most prominent Murugan temples in Malaysia. The temple complex features a 15.5-meter Murugan statue and is famous for its 513-step climb and the grand silver chariot used during Thaipusam.
Architecture
The temple is built in traditional Dravidian style on a hilltop. The main sanctum features Balathandayuthapani with Valli and Deivanai. The gopuram is 5-tiered with colorful stucco figures. The 513-step staircase is lined with shops and shrines. The 15.5m Murugan statue stands at the base of the steps. The Silver Chariot is stored at the temple.
