Sixth day of the bright fortnight of Tamil month Aippasi (October–November)
கந்த சஷ்டி

Skanda Sashti is the most sacred six-day observance commemorating Lord Murugan's epic battle against the demon Soorapadman. The festival culminates on the sixth day with Soorasamharam — the dramatic slaying of Soorapadman by Murugan's Vel. Celebrated with great fervor across Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Significance

Skanda Sashti represents the cosmic struggle between dharma and adharma. The six days symbolize the six chakras in the human body, with Murugan's victory representing the ascent of spiritual energy.
